Jensen FF rebuild.

I am a relative novice when it comes to welding albeit I do read a lot and watch everything on youtube. I own a Jensen FF that requires comprehensive restoration. I've just started work on the old girl. It's slightly daunting but seems to be going reasonably well so far. If anyone has any suggestions don't be reluctant to offer advice. Regards, Paul Mac.

6.2 or 7.2 ish litre American V8

Mk I and Mk II cars had a 6.3 litre Chrysler big block V8, the Mk III cars had a 7.2 litre unit. It is an Interceptor with four wheel drive and anti-lock brakes. It is 4 inches longer than an Interceptor and is most easily distinguished by the twin vents in the front wings.

Yes people often confuse Interceptor and Scimitar, I think it's because they're similar phonetically.

I must get hold of a bottle of argon. When I bought my IFL 170 from Steve at Weldequip I also bought the TIG torch that allows the machine to be used as a scratch start TIG. I've never done any TIG but I've watched Jody at weldingtipsandtricks on youtube and he makes TIG look so easy. I do a bit of oxy acetylene, that patch in red oxide primer on the inner arch I made and because it fitted so well I grasped the nettle and gas welded it in, fusion welding, no filler rod. It went surprisingly well but then again the panel has lots of shape.

Yes they did. One or two Stags, a Ford Mustang and a Triumph 2500 were also adapted. 320 Jensen FFs were built.

Lovely vehicles, although I think the interceptor was the worst handling car I've ever driven, the slightest sniff of the loud pedal on a corner and you face he way you came

Part of the factory is still there in Kelvin Way West Brom 40+ years on.

If you were going quicker would do 360 and end up correct way.

Police Zephyrs in Leeds at the time was TUA 550G TUA 551G one was a FF other normal 2 wheel drive
one had to keep watch in one's rear view mirror
