JD wiring question

Someone has connected the front and rear worklights on my JD 2450 into the same switch. I think this has led to the demise of the switch as it has twice the load going through it.

The switch for the front lights does nothing currently but the wiring is a puzzle.

Does anyone know what the grey/yellow wire should do in the pics below?

First pic shows where it was spliced into the rear worklight feed. Second where it was cut as it appears to go through the bulkhead towards the alternator. The last pic shows the other end of that wire from the bulkhead just disconnected and wound round another pair of wires. I cant figure out what should be connected to what here. The dash switch goes into a circuit board so i dont know how that switches on.

Any ideas?

Do you have the Technical/Workshop manual for the tractor? The circuit diagrams should help. I've looked at a few schematics, but found no mention of grey/yellow wiring.

I dont but i ought to get them.

Its grey with a yellow trace and looks to be part of the loom rather than added. Someone has been in there though as there are a few alterations (assuming scotchlocks werent a standard fit... ) that i will need to tidy up.

If I could figure out what the dash switch does/what the wiring from there is i might have more joy but it inserts into a circuit board so I dont know where its wires appear. I'm wondering if it triggers a relay somewhere rather than the lights directly but nothing clicks when i turn it on.

I have the full manuals for the tractor now. Grey/Yellow is the switch feed to the air con compressor, that runs from the roof to the compressor - which I don't have fitted. Its a bit of a jumble but someone has got a bit happy with the wire snippers in there and I think they have put all four work lights on a permanent fused live live that isn't ignition or side light dependent. They have bypassed all the relays with this so four halogen spots were all running through one switch (which may explain why it had failed). For some reason they have jumped onto the grey/yellow wire, I think, because it was unused and they know it goes up to the roof and I suspect when I look up there I will find the old wiring loose. I will connect it all back up as it should have been at some point.

I bought a set from ebay in the end. FOur maunals including the wiring diagrams, workshop and tech manual. They are all just scans of the original paper manuals but are proving their worth. I would have been faffing for a long time confused by the route of that grey yellow wire.

I couldnt find any free downloads. I have no idea of the origin of what i have bought but they have been useful so far.
