Jasic or Thermal Arc

So my little brother is looking at buying a welder. I own the Thermal Arc 181i which he was quite interested in getting but also I seem to notice that there’s very few about so I wonder if they’re ceasing production which would not be good.

We saw the Jasic 160 which is slightly more than the thermal arc but it has good warranty which is nice. Not sure if that would be a better option for him? Any ideas or suggestions?

Is the Autostar 160 the same as the Jasic 160 but a lot cheaper with less warranty?...sorry I may have added to the choices!

The newer thermal arcs I've been told aren't as good as the older models, I thought about upgrading my 175te to an acdc unit, but went for the 200a jasic in the end and kept the ta for site work.

local supplier of Jasic has heard on the grapevine that there’s a big backlog of machines - he’s certainly not managed to get any in recently, and Wilkinson Star have spaffed a lot of money to try and expedite orders..!!

Friend of mine has a Jasic mig 200 amp and it welds nicely. I've not used a Thermal Arc inverter mig but the transformer ones are nice.

Not sure to be honest but It looks similar.

The Kemppi 200 evo is a lovely machine...thats what I have

Wilkinson star (who supply the autostar 160) are Jasic partners...this is their site and they actually sell both machine...under the brands tab. The warranty is shorter on the autostar I think.

I tried one(ta), yes it was good, not a patch on the kemppi although I only have a 180 rather than the later 200, honestly its in a differant class, see if some one close can give you a go ,you wont regret it

Is the parweld not basically the same as the thermal arc machine anyway (generally cheaper I think). They're both owned by esab or its parent company AFAIK?

Our Agg friends have had the Jasic for 3 years still not dead they use it out of their pick up has a hard life

I’ve used both Kim and I preferred the Jasic.

Lincoln Bester.
It's what I bought as I was in a very similar situation and the Lincoln was suggested.
Makes me look far better than I really am. Tons of tech support and actual product support way into the future.

Having a closer look I noticed it has no displays. I see they do make some with them but they’re a fair bit more.
