He said "Oh, did you see this lathe I got for doing bushes and stuff?". I had a look at it.



Harrison L5, very little wear (12 thou backlash on the cross slide dial), 3 jaw, 4 jaw, face plate, catch plate, fixed steady, travelling steady and a compound milling slide. Even the mising lever knobs are in the bottom of the bucket.

"That's a nice lathe what did you pay for it?"

"£200 and the guy dropped it off"

Then I turned around and saw this:



I said bloody hell where did you find that?

"Oh, it came with the lathe"

I ain't that sort of guy, but I did make sure to tell him it's proper value so that someone else didn't do the same because he had no idea what it was all worth. Never even heard of a Swinden vice.
