It's time to change job.

I have been taking college courses the past year and took a course in mechanics and a evening course in welding.
Now my intention was to be a mechanic but I noticed that I was always happy coming back from welding school and would show my wife the different welds that I had done that evening. She must have been so bored looking at bits of metal that all must look the same to her.

Anyways after being miserable in my mechanics job, we are going to send me to welding and fabrication school next year.
But I would love to find an apprentaship or somewhere to employ a welders mate.
But where do I look for these jobs?
Which websites?
Which newspapers? Is there a welders weekly?
Where did you all find work as a welder?

I realise now I will be happy with a bucket over my head and a tig torch in my hand.
I also want to learn fabrication as it will make me more valubale to an employer.

Mmmm yes dear, thats nice dear, ooh that one looks difficult to do. Is some of the replies from my better half, when being shown such interesting 'steely bits.' And you'll be amazed some times when they at random moments like at beer o'clock with the fellas, when your mrs drops a comment that proves she
knows more about steel than some of the blokes you work with. and thats why we promise them the weld
On a serious note find out who do fabrication or even pipe welding and harrass them untill you get a go, just as a suggestion your local steel suppliers may know which companies are using a lot of steel therefore may need blokes, your local tech college, people in an industry usually talk to one another, and businesses will some times if they aren't hiring may tell you who is.
finding skilled staff is difficult, getting skilled can be difficult, but keen person whos always there is more use than expert whos got better things to do.
some one usually will give you a start so if it is what you want to do, keep annoying them.
