Cool. I have done so for mates that have helped me out. You just have to be careful how much cash you take to the pub, as it's cost me more than the job was worth at times. And lost the day after, with a bad head

I've let a guy move his rusty Volvo Amazon into my workshop for the winter and I'll be doing his welding for him, letting him use my workshop and I'm not charging him anything, he just needs to help with wood and gas for the heating is the deal.

Also have a young guy who's into old Volvos and was coming round helping me out and learning, he also has a set of keys to my workshop and uses it for his own projects. He was a bit down on his luck a few months back, working two part time jobs, one was at a bar that closed and he couldn't afford his flat so I had a chat to my wife and she said he needs to move in to one of our spare rooms. My wife cooks him dinner most nights and we don't charge him any rent. I spoke to a director at a company I know and put in a good word for him, got him an interview and now he has a full time job in a big NDT company in Aberdeen and is looking at building a career for himself.

So yeah it's not about the money and if you can help out folk then it's a good thing to do and what goes round comes round is my thinking.
