The bulb has gone in my electric oven, can you put a new bulb in for me. I should have run away then.
Remove the glass cover and the glass bit of the bulb falls out with a shower of cement like dust.
The screwy in bit of the bulb is stuck in the holder. Cooker isolated and gently apply the long nosed pliers. The remaining bit comes out easily, but, it has a strange metal ring surrounding it and the new bulb slops about and won’t screw in, so that bit is essential.
I’ll just remove the holder then. Well that was as easy as opening the kitchen drawer to get a spoon out when he potato masher decides the drawer is closed until further notice.
Working with a mirror and torch and thinking how they feel on The Crystal Maze, I managed to unclip the holder which should normally only be removed by a qualified engineer who has to remove the entire grill/oven.
Fix the holder, put it all back and the grill light works but not the oven. Take out the holder and test it with the meter - all working.
Put it all back in and still no worky. I discover that the b****y clock has to be set to the correct time before the oven light will work.
Why? I could understand both not working but just the oven? Hopefully I’ll meet the designer one day soon and shake him warmly….. by he throat.
