Be careful with 1/4 turn ceramic taps as it seems impossible to get spares for them.
I had a ceramic mixer tap in the kitchen that started to drip after less than 2 years. I tried in vain to get spares for it so in the end rather than going through the hassle of having to replace the tap I managed to bodge it with a packer cut from the side of a plastic milk carton, it's still fine 8 years later.
I have a kit of different inserts, there are about 4 common ones (that screwfix sell) but the box is handy for those odd jobs

Our gas kettle, for example, I occasionally give it a bit of a bashing to break the scale loose from inside it, as it starts making weird noises when it gets built up. Our water is well 'ard round here.
