I was ISO 9001 and 1401 registered for a number of years, and tbh we never earned a penny out of it it just cost us a lot for pushing pointless bits of paper around.
Unless a major customer is asking for it I would not bother

Wondering if anyone here has been through this or assisted anyone with it?

Some people are telling me it will cost 10K - but I have had a few quotes around £2k - am I likely to be stung with lots of hidden extras?

My personal opinion of it - it is a load of sh1* - but some of our customers require it.

We're ISO 9001 certified, I developed some of the systems for handling and following up of deviations. It does help you identify potential problems in the organization and production chain.

A common theme in this thread and from others that I've spoke to about it previously is that if you believe ISO9001 will be of value then you do get value out of it but if you are only doing it because it's a customer requirement then you're not really going to benefit. This is because you are treating it as a burden from the outset rather than with the understanding that, in its simplest form, it is just a tool to set out a controlled structure for your key processes i.e. the ones that should either be earning you money or that cost you money.

I suspect that it suits some kinds of business more than others. In particular larger organisations.
