Is it a transit? I'm pretty sure it's within 12" of a suspension mount so that makes it require welding. If it is passable in an mot and is left to continue rotting its gonna get closer the the prescribed area and the you'll need more welding next time or it's off to the knackers yard.
I've een plenty of these area welded up so I'm gonna stick my neck out and say it needs welding
Is it structural or within a prescribed distance from mounts / jacking points? My Talbot has holes in the sills but they can't fail it as its too far away. I am going to repair it anyway
cheers all...it passed an MOT about a month ago but prob wasn't as noticeable until I used the hammer/needle gun
not painting the full thing btw, just the cab floor...you could see the rust on the floor at the seat mounts/handbrake etc at the edges of the rubber floor
If its bad there it'll be bad where its hidden, price up replacement sills and footwell, dont waste time patching in,just replace
What van is it? I know its the offside
Hi, It's probably the amount of traffic the step gets with the driver getting in and out, he puts his weight on the step rubber and twists his foot to sit down which wears the paint underneath and water rusts the bare metal.
that would make sense, no passenger seat when I got it, can't remember now but think it was something to do with oxygen supply or defibrillator using the passenger seat fixings so passenger door almost never used
What’s the standard procedure/product to replace the under seal cut/burnt away from putting a patch in?
Seam sealer then under seal?
There’s also a bit of the plate that you can’t access/see properly from underneath but could spray something though a hole near the mud flap...wouldbodyshootz be the best thing?
