Is the tang on a taper shank drill for driving?

In the video he was using massive drill bits; a 1&3/8" slipped in the taper, so he swapped it for a 1&1/2", then went up to 2&1/2". I didn't even know they made twist drills that big.

I have drills going up to 2.5", they need a slow speed.

a tap on the wheel end nut with a hide mallet if its a self ejecting one might work

haha,,,, been there... yes it is self ejecting but this has gone tight... fortunately it also has an ejection slot in the stem

Warming it up a touch will help. Just a hot gun, nothing drastic.

But yea, the tang's surely just there to aid removal.
