Is mig suitable?

Hi all, looking to buy a mig welder that's suitable for welding up a little wrought iron fence to go around my fish pond. Also, for making up some brackets for shelving etc. would a mig welder be okay for this task.
Have no experience with mig, dabbled with arc many years ago with my late father. What sort of welder should I go for? Gas/no gas etc.

If you want MIG, a cheap gasless MIG that will do maybe 3mm will be over £200. That will probably not work very well.

For that budget, you can probably get a decent used stick welder and maybe a mask.

If you want a mig, you need to consider the machine, the gas, the wire etc.

personally I would scour ebay and the like for a cheap ac buzzbox and some fincord 2.5mm rods.
