Nice part of the world, trouble with the souff east is too many people too much London money.. Iv done alright because do-er-ups and plots or conversations if done yourself would offer a decent return, TVs though has stepped in made it all look easy and I doubt there's many playing "the property development game" especially if employing a builder making a penny from it.
When I converted this place it was always done as a forever kind of house, so as I said Il be soon done with the whole thing, Even if we wanted to sell we would really not be able as I rolled a capital gains charge onto the plot, meaning that on its sale 28% is HMRCs
so sold tomorrow Id have to write them a cheque out for just under £220k !!!!!!!! I intend to be in my box before that happens and it will be a little surprise for my children

Those prices are about the same as round here, basically to far to travel to work, houses become affordable if you work.Scroll down, that page is [asking] price descending.
The pair of cottages I looked at the other day was 235 for both, two beds needing lots of work, side garden big enough for a build in plot. But due to the number of large trees, my architect guy thinks Id struggle with planning due to the trees, and the boundary sloping away really steeply to an old railway line some 30 ft below. In his words possible but very expensive.

You won't get a 1 bed flat round here for that!
Our old place bought for 90K 20 years ago, did lots of work and extended. Sold it a few years ago for 525K!!!
Our old town was in the UK top 10 for most increased house prices!
It was no mansion and ex council! Some of the **** living there now is the reason we moved.
