Is it just me who is getting angry about trying to first search for items as simple as a printer cable (
USB A to USB B cable) but it brings up all sorts of cable...

And then when I find some listed they are all over 5.99 BUT are mostly on next day collection. If I try ebay they are all 2.99 min delivery (which is not next day) and many come from China despite saying they dont.

Buying a USB cable should not cost over a tenner when you add parking charges and fuel or is the fact my wife is doing my head in constantly wanted the house cleaned hour after hour after hour but cant do it herself...when she tries then moans about her carpal tunnel or her hip but just WONT SIT STILL. (Even though moving is difficult and she sometimes falls over.

I just feel I am constantly on 24/7 and get no time to do what I want and when I try sourcing items she has most likely thrown out is a nitemare.

I know I should not moan as some members are no longer with us. I just wished I had never retired. (Although I would have been sacked by now)

On top of all that I have to start going and sit in a glorified caravan that cost a fortune (I say sit as I get more work when down there such as cleaning and emptying toilets washing and polishing van) I waste fuel going up and down the motorway whilst I have credit card bills and a 60k mortgage to pay off etc etc etc etc

Sorry for ranting but I really dont know why I feel like this some days.

Re the rant, you're not alone. Days like that do seem to happen to most folk, and having a cold seems to drag the mood down a notch or three. The work commute can feel like travelling through a war zone some days, well most days, actually, what with deteriorating driving standards and modern vehicle and cycle lighting systems,!! Not good for the soul!!

It can seem like a load of faff to get things on the internet, and getting worse.

Free delivery and no handling charge, I believe, when the order goes over around £8 (might be £7.50), though next day delivery might be extra. I usually get a handful of cables and other odds and sods at the same time, as they do seem to have a habit of walking.

Might the local supermarket or garage sell USB cables?

3 kids under 7 here. Well practiced in sliding my feet across the floor to avoid standing on Lego/micro machines etc
I've never seen my house completely tidy. Even when we moved in had days of cleaning up the filth left for us and our boxes everywhere. Gets close sometimes though.

Every now and then I consider throwing in the towel and going on the cards but I know how that ends. A year down the line I'm sick of the poor standards and corner cutting and tell em to do like one Shepard said to the other.

Instead I persevere with long hours, thankless customers and evenings filled with paperwork. Be worth it in the end.

Is it just me

I am pretty certain it isn't just you. As I get older it does seem easier for things to push my buttons

I have been trying to get my parents to relax about cleaning for years but it seems to me that retiring brought a need to have a routine to replace the work times so they have a weekly rota of all the jobs including cleaning, washing, ironing etc. They are so busy now that I cannot see how they could ever have fitted work in

My jobs never seem to get done either but jobs for children or parents always get priority and then they come round and say you haven't managed to do much of that project

What helps a bit for me is trying to see the things that I actually have managed to achieve, even if they were jobs for other people

Our house is tidy - there isn't much clutter, but I wouldn't say it's clean from top to bottom. I don't leave dirty dishes and my wife does her best to keep paw prints off the (hard) floors. My wife absolutely hates cleaning but she will do it rather than put up with a mess. I have to leave the house because she cleans like she's mad at the world: banging the vacuum into the skirting boards and sighing when it stops because it's full of dust/hair or whatever.

Easiest place i find leads is the local charity shops, I recently sent all my old ones to a dog rescue place and then had to go and buy a printer lead back after the wifi stopped working to the printer, 2 hours to print 1 A4 page...

Well i gave up mate. The issue seemed to relate to the length of the cables i was using. I borrowed a metre cable from my 3D printer and suddenly i could install drivers.

I then decided to go OTT and was going to buy half a dozen to stock up as i used to get cables for less than a quid. I was staggered at the price.....even more so at availability.

So it was a short one i needed.

If you need 5M or more then you will need an active extension to get any sort of reliability, should cost you about a tenner, or go USB over cat5 costs a bit more but can do very long runs.

My experience with chinese cutters showed me the active extensions rarely worked for those. In fact they were so finnicky even some ports (showing as a hub) on laptops would not work.

But no its the opposite way round. I used 5 metre leads as i had two new ones. I only needed a very short lead as it was a delphi car scanner i was connecting. With the long cables neither laptops would install drivers. Using the short one it worked a treat. (USB com port emulation)
