Is an Elektra Beckum Saturn 200 worth using?

I have one of these machines lying around, I was just looking at it today and wondered if it it worth using?

2 questions need to be asked...firstly, does it work, secondly have you tried it?

If it works and it welds then yes it worths using

Yes to both. But last I tried it it seemed a bit tempremental. Though I was quite new to MIG at the time and it has no ammeter or voltmeter.

I have a couple of Thermadyne 3 phase Mig machines too, but have yet to really use them. How would the Saturn 200 compare to an industrial machine?

No experience of them but a quick google and they look like a fairly sturdy looking transformer set.
Basic but probably very reliable, a lot like the Oxfords - worth giving it a bit of a clean and service, checking everything is working and experimenting to see what results you get, if it works I'd say very worthwhile.


A lot of the transformer sets have no volt or ammeter - and the meters are fairly useless when you have your lid down anyway.
You just adjust it by what its doing and the weld you're getting rather than what the display says.

None of my migs ever have, just learn how it welds on each setting
