Is an Argon regulator OK on it's back?

I've just taken delivery of a new Argon regulator and a 9 litre bottle of Argon/CO2 mix. I didn't realise until it turned up that the bottle has a horizontal outlet. Is it OK to use a regulator in a horizontal position or do I need an adaptor so the regulator is the right way up?

If it does not have a "floating ball" type flowmeter, then it will work in any position.
