Ipad Crayon/Pen

Looking to get my Grandson a digital crayon for a brilliant school report but as I don't use apple myself I don't know what to get.
But he is wanting to draw a lot.
I was reading that the apple pen/crayon is not the best so I wondered if we have any users of apple equipment who are using 3rd party additions??

I’ve only ever used the Apple Pencils but mainly for writing. I’ve have 3 clients who are tattoo artists and they all use Apple Pencils too for creating the art work.

They're expensive but you can find them cheaper on eBay, Facebook etc. They’re two generations the first that had to be charged separately and paired to the device by plugging into the tablet.
The 2nd Gen connect to the side of the tablet magnetically that pairs and charges it at the same time. It also has a flat side for the magnetic connection but really useful to stop it rolling away. The 2nd gen only works with iPad Air 4 onwards so your best checking which iPad your grandson has as I assume aftermarket ones will also use similar technology
