Ios12 keyboard update

After this the emoji and numeral keys have swapped places. How do I get them back where they were?

Thankfully I don’t see any apple fan bois around here ready to tell you that the change is actually a (Make that 500%) improvement on usability. And that you should get your thumb and fore finger surgically swapped around to aid you in conforming to this change.

Sorry I can’t help with putting it back, I’m sure that’s impossible as it would mean you know better than apple.

Got to say it’s driving me up the wall as well.

Im going to switch back to android. There hasnt been a worthwhile update since ios7 IMHO. All subsequent updates have done is cause older devices to become slow and laggy.

Predictive text was driving me up the wall - it was turning work mails into nonsense that was quite embarrassing at times! I’ve since turned it off.

Its a shame noones worked out how to load an alternative OS onto apple devices yet. Jail breaking seems dead so its hard to get tweaks that way too.

Made the switch years back and no regrets. Shame as there hardware was top notch ipad2 I phone 4/5 era.
Just fed up with looking for workarounds for there restrictive os.

Android is not without it's problems. I allowed an 'update' apps download on my tablet and since then I get asked to confirm certification [or some such] for Messenger. I have to get them to send me a code to my phone which I enter and it then works OK until next log-on.

It seems to have mucked up my Facebook page too [not that I use FB, really], but it seems to think it's never seen me before. I remember when life was simple..........[sigh]

The emoji problem hasnt really affected me, what concerns me more is how much the power consumption has gone up. Used to get all day out of my Ipad, sometimes now it needs charging twice a day.

Mine was just updated. I hate the fact that the stupid "emoji" thing is there at all, as I prefer to write in English! That having been said, there appears to be an inconsistency between horizontal and vertical orientation. The buttons switch position when the 'phone is rotated!

Hope your phone in portrait rather than landscape. The icons are in their normal positions.

I have noticed that power consumption is bad too. Bluetooth keeps turning itself on again which doesn’t help!

Never ever ever ever download the first version of any IOS update as it will always be buggy as hell.

And i just wish there was an old sod mode so you can switch all this kind of emoji garbage off

Can you install a different keyboard like Swype or Swiftkey ?

The best thing about iOS 11 or 12 on an older device is how the system eats all the storage.
I have a older iPad Air 16GB and I have 5GB of pics and music on there. The system has swallowed up the rest. If I delete something the system expands and eats up that storage!

It's all over the Apple support forums and has been for the last couple of years. Nothing has been done about it.
Seems to me it's a deliberate attempt to force you into upgrading.

You lucky devil. I had a problem on my ipad2 on IOS7 and had to restore which meant i was forced onto 9.1.5. It has absolutley ruined it. Apps are slow. The keyboard is laggy, it freezes and crashes. Its disgraceful. I only want it for browsing now but some days it cant cope with that!

My mother had similar on her nexus with an upgrade. Easy fix though as i just stuck an earlier version of lolipop or kitkat or whatever it was called on it a d its back to normal.

Looks like apple have released an update, it says that as part of the update the 123 position is being restated to the original position.
Problem is I have now got used to it’s current location, might skip this update for a bit

Hmmm that’s interesting- I wonder if the update does anything to improve the battery life?
