Yes i've seen these empty 2nd hand for 100e and more, but i've still to make sure someone will fill, that would do me a treat, will post, but tied up with some electrolysis on my monkey frame at the moment, i hope i don't kill my cat with poisonous fumes

You dont get them refilled, you walk into anywhere that does them and exchange your empty for a full bottle in a nice cardboard box. Your old cylinder goes back to camping gaz (nee air liquide) to be refilled, tested and put in a nice cardboard box back on the shelf. Theyre sort of one up from the disposable cylinders.

The following national chains stock them I have found so far : Bricomarche, Leroy Merlin, M Bricolage, brico leclerk.
There has to be at least one of all of them near you
Usually theyre out in the back in the stores as they try to sell you one with a new welder, and you have to ask, ive never seen one on the shelf, but on asking for a rechange d'gaz argon, they come up with one.

Having said all that, if your going to be using your tig often, your best off shelling out and getting a big cylinder on lease. Firing up my tig was what weaned me off these rapidly onto the big one I use now. It will work out cheaper in year1 never mind over the three...

how much do they run, next time i'm at Leroy Merlin I'll ask them,
I agree about the quantity and cost, it's just that i want to get started without spending so much the missus goes bananas
I still have to call airliquid in Bx to find out what is the smallest bottle they will do
I'm onto a kemppi 150amp jobber, what do you think, would be great for monkey frames, it's orginally an mma set up but you can buy a tig torch and scratch start,

BTW the electrolysis thing is slow but it does seem to be working - it bubbles and makes a smell

I've got the same deal running with one of the gas suppliers here in Finland, great system, I just pop by them with 60 €, smack the empty one in a rack and get a new one instead. They are a bit smallish, but for the odd welding I do they last pretty long, and I don't have to pay any rent! Though the cylinders I use look a bit sturdier

I asked in Leroy Merlin and they don't do argon, so i must call airliquid tomorrow, i'm trying to buy a small kemmpi master used which i'll need to buy a tig torch for...

Its france, if you ask again they'll say yes you know. They just said no to get rid of you

I *KNOW* they sell argon, because a) I bought the bottle and first fill from my local leroy merlins, and I also bought the last refill I had on it from the chateauroux depot

Have to say I've found em very helpful. Only been twice in recent years (Chamonix & Tignes) but they couldn't do enough for you... very pleasantly surprised. I was also very surprised at the prices... expected to get stiffed in Chamonix but again, pleasantly surprised... very reasonable
