Hello welding ladies and gents,
I've been lurking a while reading lots of the excellent posts, I've built a kit car (a Pilgrim sumo cobra replica), it doesn't involve a lot of welding, but having a welder certainly helps a lot.
I've been using my unmodified Migmate 105 for little jobs a while and compared to my mates welder is pretty pants, mainly it's inconsistent and stops working when the trigger falls apart. Sometimes my welds wouldn't look out of place on an expensive bike frame, other times, it just spits at me.
I bought it second hand, the guy had hardly used it and I soon found out why. So, I'm in the process if modifying it as per the many posts I've read, wire feed is now far smoother, trigger doesn't disconnect inside the handle etc etc, but will do the transformer mod soon. Also sorted out a decent gas supply.
To get me going, I would like to do a wood burner...how original In my defence I'd thought about it before I saw one on the forum so to me it was sort of an original idea.
I have a 13kg bottle thats currently upside down on the patio with the valve out, will be filled with water for a while too.
I was thinking of getting another 13kg and joining them together, anyone done this? Would a 13kg bottle be big enough for something to gather round after a bbq? I was hoping for something bigger, my old clay one was bigger than a 13kg bottle.
Does anyone near me (Farnborough, top of Hampshire) have any spare bottles (happy to contribute to beer funds). I went to the dump today and they had loads, but even with my charm and offers of fivers they wouldn't let me have any of the 19kg bottles..."more than my jobs worth"....I guess rules are rules. Also been looking in the fly-tip hot spots but not found anything.
So, I hope to be back soon with pictures of my burner!
cheers
Graham
