I went to the International Triumph Parts Show at Stoneleigh today, and found something interesting. Basically, they're a thin piece of springy metal that goes between the two pieces of metal to be butt welded, and held by a metal peg. £8.95 for 5 from a company based in Bodmin. I'll try them out when I've a chance, and report back. I also saw some amazingly tasteless welding caps (green with yellow flowers?!), but decided I'd pass. I do have some fashion sense. The hot pink and grey ladies' leather gardening gloves I bought in Asda on the way home fit me better than the gents' size. Honest.
