Interlocking "logs"

The things what modern "log" cabins are made from.

My parents are selling their house and have a 4x3m summerhouse in the garden which I intend to steal and turn into a workshop, it has a large awning which id like to extend the usable area into effectively creating a 4x4m workshop.

But I need some of these "logs", the design appears to have remained the same , they are the 34mm flavour.

I've contacted a few log cabin companies but they just ignore me, they don't make these things anyway they presumably buy from a large manufacturer in Europe then sting you on price.

I can't seem to find a source of this "raw" material, any ideas?

My Google Fu is hopeless these days, I've been on that website a few times too! I'll give them a shout.

£7.45 per metre + £2.50 per notch seems a bit on the steep side though.

Finnforrest is one of the biggest manufacturers of log cabins. I’ve been to thier factory in Finland.

Most if not all buildings are supplied in flat pack kit form and then sold for either pro or diy assembly.

I think you’ll be hard pushed to get extra bits from the U.K. as most are just suppliers and then probably won’t have spares.

There is a possibility they may have damaged kit laying around, but this is generally best sourced by visiting places, tad difficult right now

Have you thought about contacting the manufacturers directly? Although cost maybe prohibitive

I know how it works, I built this thing in the first place, about 15 years ago.

Tuin are parts of tuindeco and do supply separately, they are sending out a sample to check compatability but I do feel their lengths are a bit pricy

Spindle and a french head, make what ever shape is possible and a great big hole in your self.


Ask a couple of wood yards, ive no longer access to a moulder but most joinery shops still run them

Would you need anything so complicated? A circular saw, two straight edge guides and G-clamps could do those notches. For the deep ones, you might need to build a bit of a support platform to help.

Could be done but cost Vs effort. Maybe save £200 but spend days messing about and I'd probably mess it up.

Indeed. If you only need a few foot it's feasible.
