The Black Country was the main chain making area in the UK, one claim to fame is they made the chain for the Titanic, not so well publicised is they also made a lot of the collars and chains for the slave trade.

I cheated and made a fixture for holding them……until I realised the letters weren’t square to the shank…. so they came out all higgeldypiggledy anyway.

Fascinating mix of high and low tech. The link 'welding' machine looks like a nightmare! I presume it is using thermite, or something similar?
