Watching program 'bang goes the theory' today on the BBC iplayer i was quite impressed by some of the welding achieved in in the making of one of the programs props.

The strength needed from the welds along such a long line is quite high. I'd also love to find out how they bent the sheet into the conical tube as they did

I noticed that too. I wonder how long it'll be before those vortex guns are used in crowd control!

Ouch. That could be quite dangerous - not just in people being bowled over and hitting the ground but also from the 'bends'. When air gets into the blood stream. We were always warned in work when using the blowers from the air lines not to hold them too close to the skin.

Could always try it on sheep first

Bending the cones is easy, its just a series of shallow bends made on a brake press, we do it all the time, have a look at the cone on the bottom of this hopper that I built, exactly the same,

Nice bit of engineering. love how the cannon is mounted on an old carvan chassis, wonder if they salvaged that from the top gear props dept.
