I helped set up my local shed, it is a fun and interesting set up.
No Skils, no worry. Come along for a cupper and we let you have a go..
Have skills, but no work shop, no problem, come along and do.
We have all sorts in our shed, we now have coffee machine.

A great idea, I genuinely believe boys/men need some chance to produce stuff, it provides a huge amount of satisfaction but less an less young people are interested.
Many of these old chaps come from an era where you just got one with stuff and didn't need/want/have the opportunity to keep telling the world what they were doing. They have some great stories to tell and often will be gone before any hears them.
No doubt it will go wrong when someone decides it's sexist.

.Ladies can join, the men in shed title is from were it started in Australia.
Our ladies are a fun bunch, from a 94 year old to a 23 year old.
But the wisdom our members bring is astounding.
One worked in GWR, in Swindon, the stories he tells.
One member was in midget submarines.
So it is open to everyone.

I'd hope that a coffee machine or at least a kettle would be the first thing procured!

Since then we have collected members, tools by the ton, wood and a bit of metal.
One thing I will say, MIS is not just the meetings, its the fun.
Our Saturdays session runs from 14:00 to 18:00.
Like heck. I get there early to ensure water is hot, tables set up. We have some members with dementure. So I need to make sure their projects are in a state they can get on with out problems.
Finishing at 18:00, yes right. There is the tidy up, put away secure and a sometimes a beer.
Through beer is never at the shed sessions.
I solved the issue of the coffee mugs not being washed up. By washing them up and removing them until there was 3 mugs left. The hint was picked up.

Totally agree I think some people have a ‘let’s repair it’ approach and that knowledge is not always fully appreciated in a society where so many goods are deemed to be disposable.
