That's the biggest advantage I can see. Level platform on uneven surfaces. Makes a donkey a far more useful tool.

That and with how high it can jack up should be possible to clear low walls and trenches with ease.

Cheers. actually that looked very stable on that incline. I'd feel comfortable using it there.

Just from the photo you can see it is tethered by the winch, just like piste machines working on steep ski runs. (must watch later)

Yes it was for 3/4 of the descent
Worth watching. Incredibly useful excavator.

Have seen forest machines working off winches. The last ones I watched were tracked ploughs, the drivers had their feet on the windscreens

“Had”?? That work seemed to have been going on forever...

Delivered a phone mast one Friday a while back that went up on the Lochgoilhead road, just a few hundred yards from the butty van in the parking area at the top of The Rest. It was about -4 and a howling gale, Beinn Artair and the Arrochar Alps were topped with snow, and the view back down the glen looking over the old road up from Ardgartan was just stunning. The guys on site had to bring a huuuuuge 360 in to dig the foundations, think they went through about 8’ of peat before they hit solid ground.

Drove to Colintraive after that to move a mast that had been wrongly sited on the road that runs alongside the head of Loch Striven on the road to Dunoon, the proper narrow road that the logging boys use.Did the job on Sunday, was parked in the big lay-by across from the ferry by Friday dinner time, (that’s 12 o’clock for Northerners, Southern shandy drinkers will probably call it lunch time ), so I went for a long walk, then a shower, followed by a spectacular session in the Colintraive Hotel on the Friday night . Got the ferry and bus over to Rothesay the next morning with an equally spectacular hangover . The Almighty was beseeched many times that day, and the phrase “Never again!!” was uttered quite a lot...

Watched it now, quite amazing what it can do. I did not have any visual references at times and thought he was working on a level surface, until the camera pulled back, oh my word !!!

Something similar, I had a Spider Lift arrive on a site one day, first time I’d ever seen one. A bit similar to the one in the clip, but obviously UK.

It turned up on a flatbed with no ramps and my first thought was “Oh dear, poor boy’s forgot his ramps! Wonder how long before he asks me to Hiab it off for him...” But no, he simply powered the legs down and drove the flatbed out from under it, while I stood watching and thinking what a great piece of kit.
