Just changed my public liability and workshop insurance along with my home it was that good
nfu guy came round looked through the shop were we were and what we did
Dropped all the junk I have been dealing with around site permissions etc gave me a proper excess etc. No problems with fuel gas etc

We have a few issues with split liability with us personally and the Company but also the farm who have ownership of a section of our track. As the farm is nfu also it made sense to at least get them in - very glad I did. Price was saving us only s couple of hundred but my confidence in having the right covers way up on were it was

Use if heat excess is also same as std long as I have an hour watch time after. hot work. Previously it was £1500 now it's £ 250. Re- build of shop it 2/3 more!

NFU are good but doesnt pay to stay loyal. Now looking elsewhere for commerical vehicle policy.

I moved my building, contents and smallholder insurance to NFU this year and save a few hundred quid over the closest plus I don't have to have a pointless annual inspection of the insulated panels on the barn. I also got a good deal on the bobcat insurance however I haven't tried car insurance yet. I joined the NFU via their "countryside" membership to get further discount, saved more than the subscription. Full NFU membership seems to be OTT for a smallholder.

NFU were good for my fathers vehicle - he purchased a discovery and very few companies were willing to insure it without a tracker. NFU had a good rate, did not require a tracker and included new for old for 2 years

I have a workshop set up at a friends farm. Nothing fancy, but it allow me to have some fun and earn some extra beer tokens.

This year insurance, my friend and I looked at what was on offer.

Long story short, with help from our NFU agent we insured the farm buildings on a separate policy to the farm house. Saving a good few hundred pounds.

Only issue we had, but it was soon solved was the issue on fire extinguisher's and PAT testing.

PAT testing, was resolved, as I do it as part of my job.
The fire extinguishers was solved when I explained what we had was in excess of what they wanted. All be it in a way they were not familiar with.


So, happy all round.

First thing the guy saw when he stepped in was the plethora of red bottles
My big problem was the split liabilities most insurers were saying no when I renewed last year
Just thinking it was a worthwhile thing to post as I know many rent space on farms and such
I know have a landlords insurance on the buildings with public liability on things the company might do wrong and contents again with the company
All the track and yard is agreed under our house cover. He even gave advice about the toys I keep
