Insulating a tin garage roof

Good evening illuminati,
I have a garage with cavity walls on two of its 3 sides , I have studded and plasterboarded the single skin wall , this will also be clad with 18 m ply , the roof is corrugated tin with a breathable membrane under it , the plan is next summer to lift the tin replace the membrane and raise the tin onto 2x2 batten to get an air gap , what then to insulate and form a ceiling with, the joists are approx 4 ft apart and are 6x2 ish they are set into masonry the battens will leave an air gap for our flow , all advice and wisdom welcome, mainly woodworking , turning done in it , sending the mower etc , cheers

Rip it all off and replace with 40mm insulated box profile.

remove the roof fit cross pieces and then felt and then refit the roof

1st pic 3x2s on there side, 2nd pic 4x2s vertical felted then roofed

So, on this corrugated roof -

Purlins run parallel to the ridge (ie horizontal) and corrugated steel fixes direct to them.

Where's the membrane go?

If it goes on top of the purlins, it won't run off if needed. Normally it goes on rafters and then freely drains but with purlins on the top of aframes and no rafters to speak of, I don't understand it.

I plan to put cellotex between the rafters and board below that.

If I understood how to do all this, it would have been done ages ago : (. Every time I think it's clear somthing else crops up that I don't understand!

If u use the 40mm insulated box profile metal room....it's self supporting up to 3m....
OBVIOUSLY not for walking on.....
This insu metal makes itting a new roof so simple.....

Rip it all off and replace with 40mm insulated box profile.

Did exactly that - used 100mm thick seconds - only light damage to the top and bottom panels in the stack I bought. Fit, forget.

That is what I'm going to do with my uninsulated tin roof

it all depends on what you can get and at what price you can get the roofing sheets for

you are still going to need perlins on the roof with any adjustment

even with perlins added you might as well add another 50mm into insulation so then your playing with 90mm of insulation on your roof

or perlins and some wood framing and some roofing felt and thats not cheap and get hold of 100mm of insulation
