Anyone use a borescope / endoscope linked to a lappy or phone ?

I have a narrow crack I'd like to peer into and wondered if these cheepies from ebay
are any good.

ive heard about taking selfies but that really takes some beating though id never want to try it on myself

not that type i havent tried you may need to check if it has a internal light with it

Friend of mine is a surveyor and he got a usb one from Maplin probably similar to your idea for looking into cavities and it works alright.

I got one from Ebay, Around £7-00. Not brilliant but well worth the money, It has tiny LED's to illuminate.Head is 8mm dia, And long cable with USB. If going any depth it would need to be fixed to a thin rod etc to guide it into position,

Any probs with linking into a phone ?
On eBay the adds mention "OTG Functionality", whatever that means.
The phone in question is a Sony Xperia M2 (the wifes) or mine is an old iPhone 4.


I probably need to find a six year old and take him/her to McDonalds and take the easy way out.

Called "Obedient" where you can bend them and they stay put.

You'll need an OTG cable for the Android device, not going to work with the iPhone though.

It means "on the go", it will have a micro USB rather than a normal one so you can plug it into your phone.

You are indeed right as that may be a micro usb, plus an extension to normal usb. (I've ordered the 1m version.)

You sound like you know your stuff. I may have to swim the Stour and be leaning on your front door one morning.
