Inside Chassis Rails

Hi Guys,

Anyone got experience with painting inside chassis rails before plug welding in a new floor? If so what type of paint would you recommend?

Previously I've just used weld through primer and then a wax treatment. I'm worried if I use epoxy and paint the chassis rails (apart from the flanges) then it could burn off and flake and be worse than using the weld through primer.

Some practical advice would be really appreciated.

Epoxy will burn and lift. A zinc rich weld through primer fairly lightly coated seems to hang on best. Once its sealed up leave regular access holes and spray with warmed up or thinned down cavity wax then plug with gromets or welds as best you can.

Thanks Jim. That's what I've done previously so will stick with that.

Me too and nothing I've used that method on in the last 8-10 years has shown any signs of corrosion (from the inside at least).
