Hello, I have a SSDCN1616H09 5/8" tool holder.
It came with one indexable insert.
Any idea which inserts I need?
No exotic materials being machined.
Thanks
xx depicts the tolerance/chip breaker/mounting hole
yy depicts the corner radius
S = Square
C = 7deg relief/clearance angle
09 = 9mm width
T3 = 3mm thick
All those are fixed properties of the holder, so any insert that meets those requirements should fit.
However a quick search of my usual suppliers, and the choices are quite limited for that style of insert (the majority of users will be using some form of diamond shaped insert)
Pretty much any insert ending with 08 is for roughing out big ole cuts. APT stuff is proper industrial quality.
There are cheaper clones on Ebay that come out at below £1.40 or so, but the quality is not the same and are a little delicate.
The ARC ones come in the middle ground.
SCGT for alloy can be used on EN3 to give a nice finish when driven at HSS speeds and feeds
