inline switch ??

with having the xmas tree up,the switch is at the back of it.
so had a bright idea of a single socket extension lead.between the plug and socket I would like to put an inline on/off switch.
these are only for light but if I put a 2 or 3 amp fuse in this should be ok or am I missing some thing.

Inline switch like this with a 3A fuse will be fine.

Have you thought of a remote control plug. Marlins do them for £5.99
