Injun taps and dies

Anyone used any of the Indian made taps and dies that are on eBay ? I need stainless bits for my old bsa, but the company that made excellent ss spares in Manchester has closed down, the alternatives are not good, so its easier to make my own.

The taps and dies are cycle thread, 26 tpi, the only ones i see are Indian made.

I've used some of the tracy tools carbon steel taps before and was amazed how well they cut stainless steel !

carbon taps will cut stainless no problem with cutting compound as long as your not doing loads

A few years ago the sourced a Tap and die to help my uncle re thread a 1930 bicycle. Cost a bit, bit worth it

I would avoid indian made taps, unless they are supplied by someone over here[so you can send them back]. I bought a Sagar[?] reamer
with pilot, well I bought two sizes, unbeliebly badly made, but I am a fool for buying indian tools

I bought bscy taps from Tracy tools and Max-T, I think the Max-t ones were slightly better?

Anyone used the taps arc sell? They seem too-good-to-be-true cheap.

i only keep good quality taps and dies here.
the cheap ones from anywhere other than a reputable supplier are just that.
they would get you into more trouble than they are worth.

like a few things here ive been gathering up taps and dies for the last 20 years, i have a fairly good collection at this stage, everything nearly from M3 to M36 in metric, similar in imperial, unf's, unc's, ba, bsp and even aviation taps.
i have a smaller collection of dies of which are scarce and dear on the bay but every now and again i get caught out for a size i dont have.

last week i needed a M8x1 tap in a hurry so i bought all i could get which was a beta set.
i only needed them to clean slightly rusted threads on a unit and i know it was hard material but they didnt really impress me, the heel dosent seem right, feels tight.
i wouldnt mind i am a fan of beta tools, its good stuff, not so much the taps i got tho.
