Evening All
Just a quick background first.
I can braze beautifully but cannot for the life of me weld (gas) Every time I try the torch starts popping and banging and it puts me off continuing (this has been going on for 30 years). Arc welding anything over 3mm I'm OK with I was taught on 1/2" plate.
I bought a Clarke 150te MIG the other year thinking I would be able to master 16g quite easily.
Can you please tell me if the distance between tip of wire and material to be welded is like arc welding the bigger the gap the more penetration. I also have a tig welder and for some strange reason I seem to be able to weld with it although I keep melting tungstens.
