Are all the industrial MIGS on the mm website good or is there anyones that are to be avioded

What I ment, was, what do you personally class as Industrial.

Are the machines shown on the website industrial in comparison to the small 230v Clarke Hobby units? Then the answer is yes. But if your asking if they would be comparable to other proper Industrial brands such a Lorch, Esab, Kempii, Fronius, Migatronic, Lincoln, Miller etc etc and suitable for use in a real production envioronment then I would expect that they are not.

Hence the question, what do you want to do with the machine?

Let's not be pedants. The Clarke 160 is competitive for performance vs price against other hobby welders. Industrial in this case is a marketing word they use for welders that cost more than that. On here we'd call that mid range.

In the mid range you find the top end of hobby welders, some welders specially designed to fit in the price range, and even basic offerings from the top end manufacturers.

Personally I'd avoid the stuff based on hobby welders in that price range and go for one of the other two options.

But there is no one welder for all - that would be no fun. Depends on what you want to do with the welder, how much you want to spend, and how nicely you want it to weld.

i was thinking abuot the 205 te although it is more than a 160 tm it cam weld up to 7mm steel an for me that would be about the limit i might think about a stick welder for anything bigger as they cost less than a mig.

There's a bit of marketing going on there with the model names too. The max amps of the 205 is 185 amps. Do be aware of the marketing on the max steel thickness too - comparing the welders by max amps is the thing.

I did a load of research a few years ago when I upgraded from a Clarke 160 and ended up with a Portamig 185 which has the advantage of being very easy to use, but the disadvantage of a delay between order and delivery.

Ok thanks i will go for the 160 tm and a stick welder that can go up to 240 amp stick welder for were the 160 runs oyt of power

Be sure to get one of the inverter stick welders - way easier to use and generally don't require power supply upgrades.

Thank you for the advice but i know some one that is going to retire soon and they have a 6 month old only used once clarke welder

I've got a clarke arc and it's pretty crap to be honest, my Chinese DC inverter runs rings (and welds) round it for ease of use and smoothness.
Wouldn't go back to a buzzbox now, not for any reason.

I dunno Inverters aren't so good as boat anchors or ballest... and did I really here you use the C word, now wash your mouth out....

On the MIG I think the 7mm thickness is a tad optimistic, why do these companys never offer any real figures Duty cycle? welding voltage maybe? or have I missed a proper data sheet....

It's a generic machine badged 'Rehmann' who were a German Ebay outfit and I believe are no longer trading.
It's an HF start tig too. Doesn't get used much now but works fine.
