Independent electricity meter installers

Any one here know about these or is one?

Spawn is building a house and is being mucked about by the electricity supplier about when the new meter will be installed. I've been lead to believe it can be done by someone other than the supplier. If this is true then how does one go about it?

It is done by subbies. I arranged mine through a supplier, they sent a subcontractor. The DNO puts in the connetion, but not the meter. Different suppliers seem todo it different ways. Biggest issue is getting someone on the phone to explain the process.

I gather it depends on the DNO.

My neighbour spent hours on the phone to Scottish Power, and his chosen supplier trying to find out who would be fitting the meter to his new shed, eventually somebody in the Scottish Power connections team told him they do it as part of the new connection install.

Alasdair Allan was asking for those waiting for meters to get in touch with him directly, haven't heard anyone making much progress with theirs yet. Twice I've been on the ferry recently with these guys in Uist - https://www.bespokemeteringsolutions.co.uk - not sure whose meters they were installing but might be worth speaking with?

Well, there we go. The meter installer was booked for tomorrow, an emergency appointment that was arranged 11 days ago.

And he turned up today. Which was nice. Or he was very, very late for one of the three previously missed appointments.
