In Rotherham for the night

Aberdeen is the granite city. Edinburgh and Glasgow use sandstone predominately. Lived in Dublin for a while, quite grim back then but fantastic folk who make the place. Edinburgh blew me away, being from Oz I love the architecture. Scotland is like Ireland's rich cousin.

I know we still have some nice parts and towns in the UK, but its getting less and less.

The country is fast turning into one big Sh*t tip. Rubbish and litter everywhere, smashed bus stops, graffiti on any brick surface. Even the country side is now plagued with fly tippers. It all seems to of gotten much worse, quickly.

I know other countries in Europe also have areas which seem dirty but in general the mainland Europe countries seem to be much cleaner and the people take more pride in their towns.

Sad state of affairs. I am actually embarrassed to drive my colleagues from Germany around when they visit.

saying the same thing to my passenger the other day, roadside hedges in the country side littered with paper/plastic, its embarrasing to be British, what the hell do tourists think, what would all the poor guys who gave everything in WW2 think of it all,ashamed is the word that comes to mind..

Too many tax cuts, you can only cut so much before you lose services, the fat and muscle are long gone, now its the bones that being chiselled away in a mad rush to outdo murica for tiny govt....

I agree the cuts will of contributed but that's got nothing to do with scroats chucking rubbish out of their car windows or people with a Transit tipper "charging" to clear people's rubbish or cut down trees and dump it down some secluded country lane
