In praise of my Einhell 20L wet & dry vac

I bought this about 18 months ago as my workshop vac. Less than fifty quid, it’s been fantastic. Tremendous suction has met or exceeded all expectations

Until today i had not tried its abilities as an aqua vac.

I have converted my heating system to a combi boiler so today i decided to remove the old header tanks in the loft.

There were three tanks. Two large ones for hot water feed and shower feed & one smaller tank for the central heating header.

Having drained the old sytem as much as possible there was still approx 5 gallons of sludgy water left in each of the larger tanks.

I removed the waste bag and fabric filter from the vac and replaced with the supplied foam filter.

I stuck the nozzle into the remaining water and switched on.

Bloody hell!! The performance was astonishing. It cleared the tank in a matter of seconds.

Can’t recommend it enough.

Often seen these - or other variants - and wondered if they were any good. I think Lidl do one occasionally. The 15l plastic tank Einhell one is only £30 at Amazon.

My father got a titan when I bought him the wood lathe...it died after 2 weeks so he got an einhell...thing refuse to so much as stutter, let alone fail, absolute beast of a thing

Conversely, we bought a Titan for one job, cleaning and washing an oily cellar floor nine years ago. Just cant kill it. It lives outside and been used for all sorts of things, including emptying loft tanks like the OP, and a couple of vehicle fuel tanks of diesel. Blower function is really useful too.

Thanks- it never occurred to me there was a blower function- although it makes sense now!

I have a Titan one and one of the best purchases tool wise I have made. Mine has a power take off so ideal for the circular saw etc. The wet and dry has come in handy for.

minor floods
Clearing drains
Emptying the washing machine drain
Sucking out the last remaining water before soldering copper pipes.
General cleaning tasks involving water.

I'll give another vote of support to the Titan Wet and Dry = although I guess a lot of different makes come out of the same factory. Such a useful tool and in the Wet setup it can be utilised to empty header tanks, drain radiators and change valves without getting the black muck all over the floor or carpet. Great tool.

Great feedback, it's a pleasure to read! I have a similar model and I confirm, for the price it's amazing. I haven't tested it in water mode yet, but you made me want to.

I’ve got an Einhell vac in the garage, not sure if it’s the same one but sounds like it. Great bit of kit. Reminds me I need to get some more bags for it.

I bought 5 bags on ebay. Can’t remember the price but it wasn’t unreasonable. They’ve been fine.
