My old wooden shed was just used for storage and fell apart last year. The contents are now scattered in the garage so I struggle to get inside as floor space covered despite having shelfs (and pallet racking as temporary measure).
I intend building a 10' x 8' workshop behind the garage idc to house my lathe, milling machine etc and intend keeping it as tidy as possible like the college workshops where I learnt to use the machines. Maybe then I MIGHT be able to get a car into the garage to work on it instead of outside
Anyway as well as the new workshop I'd like a small shed around 6' x 4' just for storage of things that are "stock" items (we all have them but it's just I see to collect more than average).
Looking around plastic sheds are too dear, wooden sheds either total rubbish or again dear (around £250-300) leaving either metal or homemade. To be honest I don't fancy building a shed from scratch as my mind is already working on the workshop design so metal sheds are tempting me. Looking at display items they are typical "made in China" paper thin quality metal so any shed would need inproving. We have an old Yardmaster, without doors, that is used as a wind / rain shelter on a mates field where he keeps his horse and that has a single timber battern screwed midway all around the inside. The difference it makes to the rigidity is amazing so I'm thinking of going further - batterns every, say, 18" then layer of thin polystyrene and hardboard to stop condensation. Similar with roof and then squirty builders foam into remaining cavities. Any timber shed should get similar treatment so the costs don't really matter for comparison purposes.
I'm thinking of building any shed with the supplied screws and then when in situ removing them and replacing with pop rivets.
I don't like the sliding doors but have found these with proper doors instead -

What is then opinion of the roof - worth paying a little extra for an Apex ? -

Security isn't a problem as contents will be things like car spares, lumps of timber & metal, and such so door will probably left unlocked as doubt anyone (if they could get into our back garden - 6' high wall and two Staffordshire Bull Terriers to tackle) would find anything worth nicking unless they were just after scrap.
Ground slopes so I'd build a platform out of scaffolding poles (centre filled with builders foam) and keeKlamps (got loads of both) to create a level base.
Any views / opinions ?
