I love pretty much all of CEE videos. Kurtis really knows what he's doing, and the variety of stuff he does... it's really good to watch, and he keeps it entertaining.
That boring bar is something else!

aye, been watching them for a while, really skilled guy, and the outtakes are hilarious, and lets be honest real, exactly if you were standing in the workshop with them......... superb.

I went as far as pricing a new Sir Meccanica WS1 kit, just to get an idea of cost...!Can't blame you I want one now and I've no idea how to even use it
It also looks like you'd need a decent bit of experience and a lot of extra shop-built tools and mods to be able to just rock up to any job and be able to do it.

Well, what would the damage be then?
I see, Interesting how the bolts are welded on to hold it and watching it doesn't warp , also the welding head for it that allows it to pivot all really interesting stuff although expensive I imagine lol

Comprehensive kit, though, good enough to get started on simple jobs. It's the smaller brother of the one Kurtis has, it runs on 35mm bars, 10mm tools and is rated between 25mm and 180mm bores.
Not terrible money if there was a lot of work to justify it... but no good for a couple of jobs a year. And going by Kurtis' comments on the Sir Meccanica stuff, you'd want 40mm bars and 12mm tooling wherever possible, plus a few extra shop made bits.
Also you'd want a facing head, so probably around another £1k on top.

Seems the Chinese are putting out copies as expected on - ebay
would be a lot of plant work I assume and a decent bit on site maybe if it's not a smaller forkliftable part you take can back.
There is some CNC machinists on our site for shutdowns on portable kit but that's a lot bigger scale than line boring digger booms.

@Lewis_RX8 i look after a few, dont get to use them as often as I’d like, wonderful machines to set up and use. Our smaller borer will do 150mm to 1000mm bores and the bigger brother will do 350mm to 2000mm.
there isn’t much to them though, on the larger stuff it would be limited by the power of the drive motor. Ours has a 5hp hydraulic motor which clearly has plenty of power but a hefty pneumatic would do for smaller stuff. You could also get away with a manual feed set up but of course powered is the way to go if your doing decent length bores
also, the shafts ideally want to be hard chrome plated otherwise youd have bother with the heads picking up

@Munkul - I thought about adding one to the business and 15k was about what I got quoted for a sir mecnnica too. They’re Italian and if you go there it’s cheaper, plus you can do the course.
Couple of guys here have them and it’s not full time but I reckon they get a few jobs a week each. Diggers, boats, all sorts really

There aren't many spots in Cumbria who offer line boring services but I guess there's still enough to cover the market, unfortunately.

I've followed CEE for a while now. Kurtis sure knows his stuff, and has a great ethic too.
