I recently bought one of these gasless MIG welders from Screwfix and it seems to work okay.

I previously owned an Aldi buzz box arc welder many years ago. After trying MIG for the first time yesterday, the welds looked really good as compared to my first attempts at arc welder over 15 years ago.

My question is that although the Impax machine comes with a fairly decent manual, there are no recommended settings for gasless MIG welder, for example current settings, etc. I can guesstimate them, but it's not the same. There are no recommended settings printed on or inside the machine either. I'm using SIP 0.8mm flux core wire.

post a few pics of how your welds are going and a few will no doubt offer some help ,,, hard to tell without pics , as for settings , just pick the ones you like , theres no point in worrying about what the dials say , worry about how the weld looks . No two welders ever weld the same , and no two welding machines set up the same either ,, well not until your pairing up tig machines for welding both sides of a pipe at the same time , but thats a long way down the line .

well if its still stuck together after youve ground off the excess ,,, cant be that bad ,,,

It was an old piece of quarter inch thick steel (L shaped).
