Not quite the same brightspark, the sink element isn't bent upwards like the one in the piccy, but apart from that yes. No timer fitted, just the change over switch. The thermostat is set to 60 degrees. I fitted the new switch earlier and left the immersion on for an hour. Definitely better, but i wondered if i cranked the stat up 10 degrees would it be better.

there normaly set at 60 have u checked the voltage to each heater element when turned on ??

I meant it tongue in cheek, it's been a while since I've fitted one, I did a load of high efficiency cylinders meant for solar PV, once it was warm I left, don't know how they worked long term

another thought make sure the thermostat isnt cutting out earlier than it should an-d not getting up to full temperature ive had that problem a few times a neon -tester on -thermostat will tell u

Its done and dusted at this stage, it takes about an hour to get the cylinder hot enough to run a bath, the sink part gets hot reasonably quickly. Just looking at the construction of the new heater and the old one i took out, they are worlds apart, the old one was far superior in size and weight, the new one is like an old one thats not been well.
The old one was 2/3 kw, which to me means 2 kw on sink and 3 kw on bath, the new one (claims) to be the same. With all this environmentally friendly rubbish all the rage at the moment, you wouldn't know what eu directive has been sent down.

so put a clamp meter on it and see --what current its pulling off

fluke do some nice-clamp meters-.get one that does dc amps and peak-hold inrush current and voltage ac and dc if u need the full monty
