im after some 1mm steel sheet, well lots of other stuff as well, generally im after a supplier who's homer friendly and nicley priced do they exist, do suppliers cut to size or is that a big ask? i live in andover?
also long shot ive got a project to make a car radiator and have been looking for a supplier of rad core

Have you tried radiator repair companies for the rad. core? It tends to come in stock sizes.

ive got a parkers steel in my town do they supply to homers? feel a bit stupid asking for a sheet of .5 x1m

They will love the sight of the moths flying out of your wallet.
Best bet is to find a fabshop or decent scrappy and see what they have lying aroound.

For some reason, even though Parkers are in Andover, if you place an order with them it'll come from Canterbury - mine do, I'm in Winchester. You can't order half a sheet. You need to find a local fab shop and ask. If you get completely stuck, I can order you a full sheet (2 x 1 minimum) when I next place an order.

many thanks for your offer, might take your offer up, just out of interest how much is a sheet? ive never brought any metal, going to be after angle and box ect.

really really kicking myself, just started to weld now, and i could have amassed a lot of metal over the years

Not a clue mate - I never buy thin sheet. Go to Parkers website for an idea (will prob be less than the price quoted on there). Al.

Parker's website is good, in that it offers you an idea of list price.

That said, as an occassional buyer, my local steel stockholder will always beat Parker's web price by a significant amount.

The local place will also sell offcuts from behind their guillotine, or smaller bits like 1m x 1m, especially if they've got it in the rack after cutting it down for someone else.

Ok, this just might be your lucky day. I have been having a clear up & found some sheet steel I don't want.

1 x full 2 x 1 m sheet of 0.8mm - flash of light surface rust all over.
1 x full 2 x 1 m sheet of 1.2mm - basically new with some small patches of light surface rust.

Yours for beer tokens - bought them years ago and never touch thin stuff any more.

Out of interest, who do you use locally? I'm not far away (Crewe / Nantwich) and wondered if there was someone closer than the last one I bought from (which I think was Mellards).

Hi, I use Mellards and A D Hall

Who offers the best price varies, but both will deliver to home. A D Hall used to be open on a Saturday morning, which was useful, but I don't think they do that any more.

Last lot of stuff was from Mellards, they had stock and were cheaper too.
