Throwing good parts into a crusher just smacks of childish petulance on behalf of whomever orders it and is a waste of resources.

Crushing something like this is just plain wrong, we've already used some of this planets resources to make it, you've already deprived the "owner" of having the car, why be even more wasteful ?

It's just like the stupid scrapage scheme we had awhile back, perfectly good cars were scrapped whilst others in worse condition continue to exist, utter utter madness.

I don't think it put up so much of a fight as they were trying hard to make a spectacle. My mate owns a busy scrap yard and he says that to dismantle a car quickly they whip off the bonnet, grapple the engine then give it a damn good shake. For most makes it'll shake the whole car off until your left with just the engine in the grapple. The hardest ones are Volkswagens, he said you have to bend and twist them about, they just won't shake to bits.
