If your taking a welding test, be prepared!

Now I'm not one to mock people, but today I went to invigilate a guy taking a 6G pipe welding test on 304 schedule 40 pipe. He shows me some practice pieces and asks 'what do you think.....bit hot isn't it?' I say 'just a bit ' then ask to see his torch. He has a gas lens on but no heat shield lol! So the cup is screwed on with nothing behind it, so that it's just completely open to the air

when i did my 6g test i brought my own complete torch with me and pedal and unplugged the abused one in the test centre.
i icould tell the dude there got thick, but nothing in the rules to say you cant !

That's when you give them the hand held mask and see how they get on TIG welding
