Identify the vice manufacturer

Hi all,

I picked up a Record 84 recently and a small little vice was thrown into the deal. Does anybody know the original manufacturer and possible age?

It did have some sort of a plaque on it but it looks like previous owners sanded over it at some point in time and I can't make out what it says. It also has a "No 1" stamped onto the casing.
