Identification of "pods"!

Just found these in the insulation in the roof.

Glove for scale.

Looked damp or shiny but couldn't find anything alive in it.
Any ideas?

Looks like Bumble bee nest to me, I uncovered a couple last year.

Unless you have split it they are not wasp, I’d say bee as well

Bees it is then. At least it's not any of the Hornets I've seen flying around!

I always thought a bee pod was hexagonal (confirmed by google) and not round, still think it's something other than bee's.

Are you perhaps confusing the pod they live in with the cell in a beehive, Steve?

I think the hex pods are honey bees and those weird ones are bumble bees
