I'd like to treat myself, as its my B'day soon, to a plasma cutter. Would it be worth buying one of these "multi-task" machines?

What sort of money would you spend on a hobby plasma, it will mostly be used for cutting car bodywork with occasional trips out to 5mm or so....

Personally I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, very little money for a machine with all the bells and whistles. As for the CE cert........Hmmmmmmmmmm??

Warranty...............double Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Best to stick with Matt and WeldEquipe, plenty on here have nothing but praise for their quick and efficient services.

Just my opinion tho, you pay your money and take your chances, especially with a Chinese import!!

runnach i saved the pic of the ce cert and zoomed in, its only low voltage compliant, as plasma contains 230 ocv, makes me think its very dodgy. also its a direct from china. dodgy again if there are problems with it

Small consolation maybe, but it is from one of the more reputable chinese sellers, Shop-River does seem to honour his warranties and has proved very helpful to a few members on here by supplying consumables and even internal parts for machines which he didn't initially supply.

I wasn't as thorough as yourself Darren re: CE mark, but I cant understand the need to show the CE cert, then import straight from China, all equates to alarm bells and, keep well clear!!

Then there is this below.............dodgey or what!!!

Then there is the lack of info on how the cutting is used, internal compressor?? Don't think so at max cut of 8mm

Thats why I was swayed a little. It means I get a TIG as well as the Plasma, otherwise I'm going to have to learn to weld 304 with MIG!!
I think I might just stick with the cutter for now, at least till funds say otherwise!!

With correct gas and wire, 304 s/s is a doddle, if a tad on the thin side, use some al/al for a backing plate to prvent burn through.

Save your £££'s mate, will be worth it in the long run.

What sort of air requirement does a plasma cutter need?? Will a 1/1.5 hp 25ltr compy do the job?

It will work but you'll have to keep stopping to let the receiver fill, plasma cutters use an awful lot of air.

Looks like "Jasic" machine, as far as chinese equipment goes they arent too bad, have had a bit to do with there stick/tigs they have performed really well

I bought my CUT 40 Plasma from that buyer.
Very fast shipping and the Plasma works really well for what it is.
The Plasma consumables look exactly the same as the CUT 40 ones, so I don't think consumables would be a problem
The TIG Welder looks a little underpowered at 125 amps max.
You would only be welding approx. 3mm thick maximum with that
