Hi there I am after a mig and was thinking of getting a Clarke 206 tec, thing is, is that I am only using it for welding on the car I have but wanted to get a decent size one for other jobs that come up in the future ie welding gates and other thick metal also if I was to get one this size would I be able to use it on a household electricity and maybe yes I will have to change the fuse I know that but will a household handle a 30amp or will I need to get a new circuit run off the household, in short what would I need to do ampage wise in order to do automotive welding and then there's what circuitry would I use in order to weld maybe 5-6mm steel. Thanks for your time and any advice would be well appreciated and again many thanks..

right, you can run it off a standard 13 amp plug, but only to a certain power setting, usually around 130ish amps on a transformer unit. when you get tot he point where it blows the 13 amp fuse you will require a bigger supply to go any higher. do not replace the 13 amp fuse with a higher rated fuse, you will just end up with a fire at some point. I would assume that a 200 amp transformer unit would require a 32amp supply, although I may be worng and it could only require 16 amp. there will be a data plate somewhere on the welder stating the input current required to run at full whack.

couldn't be bothered to look it up. Been a long shift, training a temp to run a new cell of machines, unfortunately.one machine is in German, and the other is in Spanish. I can get along with both on holiday but trying to decipher various program features is a nightmare
