I thought you would like this "mystery" object

As you guys like all things metal.

I was at an Ham Radio Rally about 20 years ago and paid £2.
Add 24V and the light flashes. It is 13" high, 4" in diameter and weighs nearly 5Kg. It is thick walled stainless steel.

Back then there was no Google so I had no idea what it was. I have just dug it out again. The manufacturer is Technor and it seem to be a signalling device for hazardous environments like oil and gas.

I am sure it will be of some use, but I can't open it and the wife doesn't want it as a door stop

There WILL be a way of getting into it, looks like somebody already did to disconnect the cable [unless it's just cut off & we can't tell from the pic].

Looks like Technor make hazardous environment electrical gear so probably the right company, have you thought of contacting them, maybe they have a museum or archives to identify it.

Most Ex rated equipment normally needs some type of key to open it so it cannot be opened in a hazardous environment with normal handtools, I used to service some miners type lamps and needed a couple of triangular form keys to open battery pack and lamp unit.

looks like a radio mast/tower beacon...& if it's something to do with Amateur radio it'll be worth more complete than made into something else...every part of equipment in Amateur radio carries a hefty pricetag...looks impressive though

Stainless and over engineered with a cage to stop it getting hit by a seagull, it could be off've a boat.

Does it flash 3 times with a 1 second interval? I think this a towed vessel on an inland waterway (or a hovercraft!)

Aircraft avoidance lights are red. Could be a runway marker light I bet the top comes off as there appears to be a split ring on the cage that probity had a retaining leash on it to stop the top being lost.

I had a Landrover that failed an MOT because the indicators were more "yellow than orange", of all the bloomin' things it could've failed on they chose that
